National Geographic l Earth under water l Discovery channel

Earth Under Water portrays the worst scenario of a rising sea level.

The films are divided into three categories: family edutainment; ecology and environment; and natural science, life science and technology. Initiated by the Goethe Institute in 2005, the festival aims to give its audience access to knowledge, with all films dubbed into Thai.

Aligning with the United Nations "Water For Life Decade 2005-15", this year's theme is water _ the greatest challenge of the 21st century with climate change causing drought in some parts of the world and devastating floods in others, such as last year's crisis in Thailand. Films include Earth Under Water, which provides a scientific disaster scenario of rising sea level as well as experts' and politicians' views on how to deal with a sinking world.

How Earth Made Us: Water is about our dependence on water and how appreciative you are of it when in the middle of the desert.

The programme also includes family edutainment.

This includes Empty Oceans: Johannes Is Fishing Fresh Fish which reports on declining fish stock in the oceans and what can be done to help endangered species. The films will be shown at the National Science Museum Thailand (Khlong 5), NSM Science Square, the Science Center of Education (Ekamai), the Thai Film Archive (Salaya), NSTDA Thailand Science Park (Khlong Luang), Nanmeebooks (Sukhumvit 31), TK Park (CentralWorld) and City Learning Park Nakhon Si Thammarat, as well as science centres in 15 provinces.
